I’ve been so silent as my health has pushed all else pretty much to the curb.
First total knee replacement (TKR) this past November. Next one coming up in a few months. Gradually getting my life back. Still pretty much disabled. And what a lesson being disabled has been! The world around me is designed with the able-bodied in mind.
I waited too long. Not entirely my fault. Covid played a large part. Firstly, by keeping me from seeking help and then the long lineups once I did. Don’t wait too long!
Be your own best advocate! Follow up on your referrals! Your tests! I had one letter not sent, one test not requested, one rx, for opioid pain meds, not given to me by the pharmacy when I picked up my “kit” and one rx prescribed that was contraindicated because of an existing drug allergy.
There have been so many bumps in the road. This last one, a “severe superficial” infection of the operated knee. A real setback. Just recovering. Back to physiotherapy and growing my world in a couple more days. Grateful that I got the help I needed so quickly.
About halfway is where I feel I am on this journey. Fingers crosssed there aren’t anymore big bumps along the way.
